The Scene at Chanel Haute Couture Fall Winter 2010-2011
Ahhh Chanel. The crown jewel of haute couture collections. Chanel is Chanel; it's the grand-daddy of shows in Paris. I squealed with delight when the lovely folks at Chanel asked for my mailing address in Paris. I had no idea what they are about to send me. It could be anything, you know? Mailing list? Promotional material? A new fragrance? Lookbooks? Nope, they sent me my first haute couture show invitation. Although I've done the NY/Europe menswear and womenswear circuit for a few seasons, I'm still a couture virgin.
Valentino Haute Couture Fall Winter 2010 Show Invitation
Here's a photo of the Valentino fall/winter 2010 haute couture show invitation I've received.
I've been told it was a front row seat (there were only 2 rows at the show). It's a shame I didn't make it to yesterday evening's show as I had to fly to Berlin in the morning.
Bryanboy's First Ticket to the World of Haute Couture: CHANEL
My first ever ticket to the highly exclusive and wonderfully illustrious world of haute couture finally arrived today.
It's from the House of Chanel.
You have no idea how thrilled I am to be invited to the show. Haute Couture, as you know, is the pinnacle of fashion. It doesn't get any better than this. This is what we, fashion enthusiasts, live for!
Thank you so much to Chanel for extending me an invite. It truly is an honor and a privilege..
And just like this, out with the old and in with the new. Meet the new Valentino.
Looking at these images, it's quite evident that Valentino is trying
to attract a new customer.
It's fascinating how a lot of designers
these days focus on their brand's heritage whereas Valentino's Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli are charging forward with a risky approach.
Perhaps too forward and too radical from the brand's identity?
You know who I think would be perfect to design Valentino and carry the torch in the future? Elie Saab.
Christian Dior Spring Summer 2010 Haute Couture - FIRST LOOKS
With the lovely Tavi (sporting a pink Stephen Jones bow hat) sitting front-row, the editors over at British Grazia are not happy with their view at the Christian Dior haute couture show in Paris that's going on right this second.
Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2009 2010 Video
The video is out. As always, leave it to the House of Dior to put on a magical couture show. Everything is just perfect -- the clothes, the intimate set, the amazing music and of course, models with bone-chilling, 102% pure couture poses that ooze 'high fashion'.
As a child, I grew up thinking Dior is the pinnacle of haute couture. This was before I knew about all the other (and older) couture houses. Of course I now know better but Dior (and John Galliano) to me is very special. Would I be able to go to a Dior haute couture show in the near future? I don't know. Will you, or some fashion angel, help me go to Dior couture someday? I hope so. In any case, I have a long way to go and I still need to pay my dues to the fashion gods. Either that, or, I need to win the lottery. Then I'll spend it all on a spectacular Dior ball gown which I'll wear on my deathbed when I'm 80 years old so my grandchildren would be able to say to everyone "Bryanboy died in Dior couture."
Click click click for parts 2 (which is my absolute fave) & 3 of the video.
Shower me with attention and inflate my ego. Email photos of your love and I'll add you to my ever-growing collection. Be creative! Be spontaneous! Send them to bryan@bryanboy.com today!
