Uomini by Mariano Vivanco and Dolce & Gabbana

Uomini by Mariano Vivanco and Dolce & Gabbana

I quickly popped by the gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana menswear boutique (more like mansion) at Corso Venezia yesterday evening to visit my buddy Mariano Vivanco's UOMINI book party. I'm a big fan of Mariano's work and his new book, published by Dolce & Gabbana and Rizzoli, makes a great addition to my ever-growing collection of coffee table books. Now all I need is a table... and perhaps some coffee as well.

Drink, Play, Fuck by Andrew Gottlieb

Remember that book turned into film starring Julia Roberts called "Eat, Pray, Love"? Well, look at what I saw at the bookstore at JFK airport. It's soo funny I had to take a photo of it.

Luxury Online + Prada Book

Luxury Online + Prada Book

I'm feeling a bit peckish for some reading material and there are two books I'm looking forward to buying after (duh) reading about them online.

The first one is the 700+ page Prada book. It's 100 euros retail but you can get it for $79 at Amazon...

Prada Book cover

... the other book I want is "Luxury Online: Styles, Systems and Strategies" by Uche Okonkwo. I read about it on Women's Wear Daily and it looks promising.

Luxury Online: Styles, Systems and Strategies by Uche Okonkwo book cover

The problem is, both books are not due to be released by Amazon until February next year. That's what, three and a half months?

You may pre-order now but you won't get them until they're out.

Hmmm.

Marc Jacobs Advertising + Juergen Teller Book Signing

Marc Jacobs Advertising + Juergen Teller Book Signing

I'm a big fan of Juergen Teller's work. When I was younger, I bought his spectacular model casting book "Go Sees". So when the lovely folks at Marc Jacobs invited me to his book signing event at the Palais Royal Paris store, this time, it's for the enormous coffee table Marc Jacobs Advertising book, I had to come visit and see him in flesh.

The Sartorialist Book by Scott Schuman

The Sartorialist Book by Scott Schuman

For US$16.50, now you too can pre-order Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist's new self-titled book to be released on August 12, 2009.

Scott Schuman just wanted to take photographs of people on the street who looked great. His now famous blog ('the bellwether American site that turned photo blogging into an art form' - "New York Times") was an attempt to showcase the wonderful and varied sartorial tastes of real people - not only those of the fashion industry. The book is a beautiful anthology of Scott's favourite shots from around the world. They include photographs of well-known fashion figures as well as those shots of the anonymous passerby whose imagination and taste delight the viewer. From the streets of Rio to Bejing, Stockholm to Milan, these are the people that have inspired Scott and in turn, inspired designers and people of all ages, wages and nationalities with an interest in fashion. Intimately designed and created with Scott, the book is a handsome object in its own right, in full colour on hand-picked, quality paper.

Poseur by Rachel Maude (Book 1)

Poseur by Rachel Maude

Whenever random pundits ask me for my favourite books I always tell them "I don't read. I'm read to." Does Us Weekly or Grazia count? Just kidding. I seriously wish I read more books but I simply do not have the luxury of time. I'm the type of person who likes to read books from start to finish all in one sitting. Also, when you think about it, the best way to improve one's vocabulary is through reading. Is it obvious that I don't read enough? Y'all should know by now how illiterate I am, even a fourteen year old writes better than I do. Hah!

Hmmm.. Tai, Dionne, Cher is dat chu? Clueless is dat chu?

Poseur (book cover) by Rachel Maude

Anyhoo... I *DO* read books every once in a while. I'm a big fan of chick-lits. Especially paperbacks with cute covers. I went to the shop earlier this afternoon and saw this teen series by Rachel Maude called "Poseur". It's from the same publisher of Gossip Girl and The A-List. I love the series title -- how approrpiate considering I'm the biggest poser in the world (figuratively AND literally).

I got myself a copy of book 1. I'll read it next week. Go me!

Visionaire 54: Sport Lacoste Visionaire 54: Sport

As you know, if V Magazine is ready to wear, Visionaire is haute couture! Lacoste celebrates its 75th anniversary by partnering with the fabulous folks at Visionaire. The new Visionaire (Visionaire 54: Sport) comes in four volumes. Each volume has full-colour, photographically-printed Lacoste polo shirts featuring artwork by various artists and photographers.

Visionaire 54: Sport is presented in four different sets, each set containing three printed Lacoste polo shirts embedded within its pages -- one small, one medium and one large--as well as a book featuring all 12 images. Each set retails at US$250 but if you purchase via Amazon, watch the price drop to $157.50 each. Not bad for three shirts eh? Buy all 4 sets and get 12 shirts -- you must be a hardcore Visionaire collector if you do.

Visionaire 52: Private (with Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Mert and Marcus)

Visionaire 52: Private

Can you believe it's already November? Christmas is just around the corner and good lord have mercy on our wallets, it's gift season once again and the Marc Jacobs store isn't even open yet! I just ordered 2 copies of Visionaire 52: Private by Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, featuring photographs by Mert & Marcus. One is for me and one is for my friend who is the most HARDCORE MJLV fan on the face of the planet. That person is so hardcore s/he/it is the type who probably masturbates over images of Marc Jacobs late at night. According to the lovely trannies at Fashion Week Daily, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe ordered six copies of this book so go figure.

Visionaire 52: Private - Marc Jacobs

What I can't figure out is whether or not this edition comes with a leather miroir case. I mean, there's the book case in gold miroir (left), yes, however, there are images floating around the net that resembles a nice nifty case that one can use as an oversized envelope clutch (right), no? When you can't find anything at Louis Vuitton for under $2,000, three hundred seventy five bucks for a clutch is a fucking bargain! Will my Visionairey/V Mag friends tell me what the whole ordeal is? Many years ago, I got myself the "Where"/Hermes edition (postcards with pictures that David LaChapelle took and came in with an Hermes pouch, the same leather as Hermes HER-bag, and pencil). I got so bored with it so I ended up sending those postcards to people around the world. Little did I know damn thing ended up as a collectible item and you can't get that issue of Visionaire anymore. Stupid ol queen! Big mistake. Big! Huge!

Visionaire 52: Private is US$375 per copy and is available in chi chi bookstores worldwide or from Visionaire themselves. I got mine from Amazon cause I also I ordered a bunch of books. Might as well get it all from one place. Yes. Books. You read that right. Just because I look like a downright illiterate scumbag it doesn't mean I don't like books. I love books! They make my shelves look colourful and pretty. I hope it arrives in time though because according to Amazon, the book won't be shipped until late November/early December. Oh dear.

Visionaire 52: Private - Amazon.com

I'm going to the post office tomorrow. My ebay purchases are starting to pour in.

WHORES DAMN WHORES Y'ALL BETTER SEND ME CHRISTMAS PRESENTS IN THE MAIL. Surprise me! It's the thought that counts. Whatever you do, don't send me anything size small. Send me cock! Send me big, huge cock in the mail! Bryanboy.com - MCPO Box 2044, Makati City MM 1250, Philippines.

I love you all!

PS. Shit. There goes my LV ban. LOL.

Deluxe - Dana Thomas: How Luxury Lost Its Luster

Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster by Dana Thomas

I've had this book for quite some time now and boy am I glad to finally have read it. I finished Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster in less than four hours over a huge bag of M&Ms and a 2-liter bottle of diet coke. I like to read books in one sitting, with no interruptions whatsoever. I like to "detach" myself from reality in order for me to read a book properly. I can't stand reading something for a few chapters, do something else and then read again. I'm just not one of those people, ya know? Anyway...

Wallpaper* Magazine's $55,700 In Style Ad

Sorry, can't resist. Does Tyler Brule (sorry Tyler but I have a third world keyboard incapable of those fancy schmancy characters you have in your name) know about all this? You know what they say -- desperate times, desperate measures. There's money in the masses and the best way to get the attention of masa is by going through the good ol' celeb route. So tell me, why is Wallpaper*, (if you're old, like me, then you'll know what wallpaper* is) advertising at In Style Magazine? Why are they courting the celeb-obsessed pack? Isn't that like wrong wrong wrong? Ladies... meet Wallpaper* Magazine's $55,700 1/3 page vertical ad on the October issue of In Style.

Rachel Zoe: Style A to Zoe

Skelezoembies rejoice! Rachel "they say I am more influential than Anna Wintour" Zoe, the woman who single-handedly propelled anorexia, gold and zombie cloning in Hollywood, has a new book coming out called "Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty and Everything Glamour". Misshapes Book

MisShapes Book

I'm not really a big fan of "pictures of people" books simply because of the fact that those damn things remind me of high school yearbooks.  Besides, the only ones who are interested at them buy them are the people on the book itself so really, what is the point of it all? Just kidding. One of my favourite books is "Go Sees" by Juergen Teller.

Anyway, for $16.50, you can now buy this 288-page book with over 2,000 images of hipsters, fashionistas, punk rockers, artists, downtown kids, musicians, DJs, celebrities and the characters who represent the young, the bold, the sweaty and the beautiful of Nueva York City life.

I'm gonna buy the MisShapes Book for one reason: I love Sally Singer and I want to see what she wrote on that book.

PS. Speaking of black books and fashion and Vogue and September book launches and stuff, let's move on to Elle and check out Nina Garcia's Little Black Book of Style. Yep, that Nina Garcia of Project Runway fame. =)

Must-read: THE BOOSTER by Jennifer Solow

032307_solowMust-read: THE BOOSTER by Jennifer Solow

Ladies! It's been a month since I last recommended a book to read and it's GREAT timing that my author friend (is it because I could only count the number of friends I have using one hand hence the reason why I'm abusing the word 'friend' in the last blog posts? kidding) Jennifer Solow emailed me about her book entitled "The Booster: A Novel" published by Simon & Schuster.

What does a chic Manhattan kleptomaniac J.A.P (that's Jewish American Princess to you) who loses her fabulous job, gorgeous photographer boyfriend and incompetent housekeeper do? She joins a Peruvian high fashion shoplifting ring, of course.

Jennifer told me she interviewed a shitload of rich lady kleptos and undercover FBI agents researching South American shoplifting rings. It's a high-fashion snitch, swipe and shoplifting bonanza throughout NYC. Mariannnna is that you?

032307_boosterAnyway, the book was a national bestseller... Terry Richardson took photos of her (LUCKY LUCKY BITCH! I WANT TERRY RICHARDSON TO TAKE A PHOTO OF ME TOO WITH CUM STAINS LEFT BY OTHER GUYS ON THE BACK OF MY BRIEFS) in her underwear in the bowery and she was in People, W and Harper's Bazaar magazine -- with Madonna on the page beside hers. Hah!

She's sent me an autographed copy (woohoo! thanks babe) and it's on its way to the fabulous turd third world. I recommend that y'all order a copy now on Amazon.com so by the time I get mine, you'll get yours too! Buy! Buy! Buy! I have a feeling you won't regret it.

The Booster (Simon & Schuster 2006)

I'm gonna update my laundry list in a bit. Email me and tell me you love me. My email address is bryanboy@gmail.com or SMS +63.915.785.1492.

I love you all!

P.S. Will someone please find me a Jewish American Prince of my own? I need one with a big cock. Thank you.
